My tableau pieces are inspired by the quiet, everyday moments between people in their relationships, often exploring the concept of a stagnant, empty relationships and how the character’s attitudes have changed towards each other in time. I’m interested in the notion of how differences in routine soon merge into one creating a continuous state of solidarity: even as people grow distant they are still tied together by their repeated, everyday routine.
A lot of my narrative ideas are all based around people in their relationships. I explore how we as humans attract each other in the first place and how some people want for attention in their relationships.
My initial staged pieces were based on non-lens based medias and in this gallery at the moment there is an image based on Serov’s painting “The girl with Peaches”, I hope to continue down this route of taking inspiration from the art world as well as taking influence from everyday life.
